Texas Downtown’s roundtables are designed to connect members and non-members from across a region to learn about downtown resources and best practices from speakers and host downtowns, and to connect and network with other downtown professionals and supporters.

9:30 – Welcome and Introductions by Navasota

9:45 - 10:20 – Educational Session: Downtown Ordinances: How to reduce burden and increase occupancy

This session will discuss how Navasota has taken a business-friendly approach to downtown ordinances that create flexibility, swift permitting, drive high-occupancy for available buildings. Learn what has been working for Navasota and how you can adapt this approach in your community.

10:20 - 10:30 – Break

10:30 - 11:15 – Educational Session: Take Our Building Already!

Learn from Navasota's Economic Development Director, Rayna Teicheira, about how a former public works building in the city's Central Business District has been transformed into the WildFlyer Mead Company. You'll see how their RFP to sell the building was crafted with a special deed requiring it to be operational within 18 months to maximize it's impact on downtown and the city at large.

11:15 - 11:45 – Tour of WildFlyer Mead Co.

Walk through the redeveloped Tasting Room? and see the results of the work put in to turn this vacant building into an economic driver and visitor destination!

11:45 - 12:15 – Downtown Walking Tour

Learn about the success and opportunities in downtown Navasota and walk away with ideas to implement in your downtown!

12:15 - 1:00pm – Networking Lunch

Get to know other downtown pros in this casual lunch environment

1:00 - 1:45 – Educational Session: Reintroducing Downtown Bryan    

Learn about the history of revitalization efforts and various event strategies that have helped to re-introduce downtown Bryan to locals and visitors alike. Join Martin Zimmerman, representing Destination Bryan-Downtown Bryan, as he shares the work that went into their efforts as well as the visitor data showing their success!
